It’s a busy time of year for the Schill Architecture team as we head into fall! The days have been fast-paced as we wrap up permit sets for homes slated to break ground before the cold weather hits and simultaneously dream up designs for homes starting construction next year. One of our newest creations on the board is a stately residence in eastern Ohio.

Our clients requested a home with classic architectural features and materials that would withstand the test of time. By incorporating earthy materials like stone and stucco with dark windows, steep rooflines and some symmetricality, we strived to design a home that looks like it’s been on the site forever. One of our favorite features of the site is the sharp topographical dropoff, which allowed us to offer our clients a walk out lower level filled with daylight.

A rustic path winding down from the driveway gives guests direct access to this walk out area as well as the rear covered outdoor living space, which is the real showstopper in our eyes! By utilizing thick stone walls for the central portion of the outdoor living space instead of typical wood columns, we’re able to provide an overwhelming sense of grandeur to the rear of the home. We can’t wait to bring this design to the finish line and watch construction commence in the spring!
