The weather may be cooling down, but our designs at Schill Architecture are just heating up! We are gearing up for a busy fall and winter season as we get design work for 2021 projects underway. As clients continue to place a renewed value in spending quality time at home and in their backyards, we’ve seen a growing demand for #schillstyle outdoor living spaces!

This proposed outdoor living space is an addition to a residence in a Cleveland suburb. The existing home is absolutely gorgeous with a stunning, secluded backyard, but we’ve found that most homes built in the 80’s or 90’s are often lacking the quality of outdoor living spaces sought after in this day and age. Covered spaces are especially important in the Cleveland area since the weather can shift from sunshine to showers fairly rapidly thanks to Lake Erie! Our clients want the opportunity to spend time outside, rain or shine, and have a cozier and more defined place to entertain guests on beautiful summer evenings.

Some of the most sought after features in the outdoor living spaces we create are statement fireplaces and grilling centers. In this particular design, we seamlessly blended the style of the new addition to the existing residence by incorporating brick piers beneath the timber columns. Elegant arched trusses in the gables call attention to the entry point of the covered area while also tying in an existing arched window. Looks like the perfect place to enjoy a cozy fall evening by the fire!
