Start: 2016
Groundbreaking: Fall 2016
Completion: Spring 2018
Location: Avon Lake, Ohio
Since its groundbreaking in Fall 2016, this lakefront residence has quickly transformed a flat, vacant lot along the Avon Lake shoreline into a spectacular coastal-style home that that immediately evokes a sense of grandeur as you approach. The owners wanted a timeless home for their growing family that would strike a balance between “quaint” architectural details, such as brackets and dormers, and modern design features, such as expansive glass overlooking the water. The spacious residence finished framing in Winter 2017 and is currently in the process of being sided with Hardie Siding, which is Schill Architecture’s siding of choice on waterfront homes due to it’s ability to withstand the ever-changing elements of Lake Erie.
Schill Architecture took advantage of every inch of the property to maximize Lake Erie views throughout the home. This meant removing a tremendous amount of earth from the completely flat site in order to incorporate a lower level walk-out that opens directly onto the future patio and swimming pool. Connected to the ground level entertaining area will be an upper level covered terrace off of the kitchen and dining areas that will allow the owners to entertain outside in rain or shine. Construction crews are taking advantage of the beautiful June weather in Cleveland to continue their site work while the carpenters are finishing interior framing and electrical before the project progresses into the drywall phase. The home is expected to be completed in Spring 2018.
