At Schill Architecture, we pride ourselves on our ability to design homes of any style. One of our favorite projects currently under construction is this sprawling contemporary home perched above the shores of beautiful Lake Erie. The project, which broke ground in late summer 2017, is starting to approach the finish line as interior elements are put into place and construction of the numerous outdoor living areas are underway.
The theme of this home on both the interior and exterior is clean lines and expansive glass overlooking the water. Quality building materials are key to successfully executing the minimalist aesthetic and protecting the home’s envelope from the harsh and ever-changing weather conditions along the shore. As a result, Schill Architecture chose to specify a combination of Interstate Brick and Longboard Siding for the exterior of the home. Longboard is an aluminum siding and soffit product that mimics that natural beauty of wood without the maintenance. Schill Architecture knew Longboard was the ideal siding choice for this home due to it’s ability to add warmth and texture to contrast the cool gray brick while simultaneously providing superior resistance to weathering.
On the interior of the home, a truss roof system allows for an expansive floor plan with very few structural elements. The result? Dramatic open spaces flooded with natural light! We can’t wait to watch the remaining elements of this home come together and share the progress with you!
