Despite a beautiful location on the shores of Lake Erie, this lakefront lot stood vacant for many years as prospective buyers quickly discounted it’s value due to it’s narrow 50′ lot size. Though many individuals mistakenly concluded that nothing of value could be constructed within the 35′ buildable width, our client asked us to take a look. We happily obliged – some of Schill Architecture’s greatest designs have resulted from challenges and restrictions! As we began to dive into the design process, the ideas of what this narrow site had the potential to be began to materialize in our heads. The final product was a 5,000 square foot coastal-style home with spacious indoor and outdoor living areas and spectacular views of Lake Erie and the Downtown Cleveland skyline from nearly every room in the home. With a little creativity and imagination, a story that began with an “impossibly narrow lot” ended with a happy family that feels like they’re on vacation every day. Never say never…your dream home can be constructed just about anywhere!
