At Schill Architecture, we’re known for designing houses in a multitude of styles. From sprawling country estates to sleek urban infill projects, we can make anything #schillstyle! In 2024, however, we’ve seen a big shift in clients requesting transitional style homes. So what exactly is the transitional style? It’s a careful blending of traditional and modern styles that offers the best of both worlds in terms of design features – the balance, symmetry and generally inviting feel of a traditional home paired with the clean lines and moody color palette of a contemporary home.

One of our newest transitional designs is located on a beautiful piece of property in Hinckley, Ohio. The exterior of this home is full of juxtaposition: dark batten siding contrasts the light, rustic stone and sharp gable rooflines pairs with arched windows. These elements work together in harmony to create a front that is elegant but welcoming. And let’s not forget about the amazing outdoor living space in the rear of the home! A large covered porch overlooking an infinity pool and the serene landscape will make this perfect for entertaining friends and family. We can’t wait for construction to begin on this beautiful home next year.
